Environmental Concerns
Apart from considering whether planning applications would be harmful to Cornwall's countryside and coastline, CPRE Cornwall is also concerned over the effects or neglect or misuse of the environment. A particular instance of land misuse has recently come to the attention of CPRE Cornwall, and this misuse has transformed a village amenity to that of an industrial estate. The village in question is Porth Navas, on the Helford River, and the area of concern relates to the quay. The pictures below show the quay as it was some years and as it is now.

Porth Navas - A Working Quay or Amenity Land?
It is most discouraging and very disappointing to see such a charming area transformed to such a horrible state.
There must be many areas of Cornwall that have suffered in the same way. CPRE Cornwall will do its utmost to reverse these situations, and this will be achieved by both persuasion and protest.
I will be pleased to hear from anyone with a similar tale of misfortune, so please e-mail me using: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Port Navas and the Helford River - An Update
A NEW website has been launched by Port Navas Residents to protect and preserve Port Navas Quay and the wider Helford River Area - http://www.preserveportnavasquay.co.uk/
Local Residents have formed Port Navas Quay Limited (PNQP Ltd). The aim of PNQP Ltd is to protect and preserve the now degraded Port Navas Quay and to highlight and reverse Environmental Damage which has been caused in the Helford River. Director of PNQP Limited and CPRE activist, Michael Bruton says:
"The Grade II Listed Port Navas Quay has been degraded and damage has been caused to the river bed of the Helford River. A number of environmental threats now bring the prospect of a 'Perfect Storm' to this once pristine and beautiful part of England. We urge those who love the Helford Area to browse our website and to join with us. The prosperity of the Helford River Area - for jobs, living and recreation - depends on all of us maintaining its world heritage standard beauty"
